DAY 2: CAIRO

Desert Sands and Secrets of the Sphinx

CLASSIC Enjoy a visit to the Egyptian Museum. Peruse King Tutankhamun’s fabulous treasures and many other priceless artifacts of ancient Egypt.

CLASSIC Take a close-up look at one of the World’s Seven Wonders and guardian of the great pyramids, the enigmatic Sphinx, and the Great Pyramid of Giza. Cheops, with an original height of 496 feet, is the most colossal pyramid ever built, and of course enjoy the visit to the newly discovered Noble Tombs.

DAY 3: CAIRO

Ancient Cairo, a Boy King, and the Christ Child

CLASSIC Drive to walled city of Old Cairo, with Saladin’s 12th-century citadel, and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali. Afterwards, drive to Memphis to admire the statue of Ramses II.

Afterwards, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.

CLASSIC Drive to Sakkara, a vast desert necropolis built for kings and nobles, and its “Stairway to the Sky,” the oldest of all pyramids. Also admire the special tomb of Mary Roca and the Step Pyramid of King Zoser.

DAY 4: CAIRO–LUXOR (EMBARKATION)

Fly 300 miles up the Nile Valley to Luxor to embark on your Nile River cruise.

CLASSIC See the stunning monuments of Karnak complex, developed over more than 1000 years. Walk among the pillars of the colossal Temple of Amun Ra for an experience you will treasure for a lifetime.

Embark on your ship and enjoy your first lunch onboard.

CLASSIC In the afternoon enjoy a visit to Luxor temple, one of the two primary temples on the east bank, together with Karnak.

This evening, enjoy live entertainment on board.

Royal Resting Places of Kings and Queens

CLASSIC Venture to the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens on the west bank of the Nile where generations of pharaohs and nobles were entombed in Cliffside crypts. See where 63 royal tombs have thus far been discovered, of which one was virtually intact—the splendid tomb of Tutankhamun discovered in 1922.

Visit Deir El-Bahri, Queen Hatshepsut’s monumental rock temple. Stop for pictures at the two Colossi of Memnon guarding the valleys.

DISCOVERY This afternoon, attend an exclusive lecture on this ancient civilization by your Egyptologist while sailing to Edfu.

DAY 6: EDFU–KOM OMBO–ASWAN

Egyptian Gods of the River and Sky

CLASSIC This morning visit Edfu Temple, also known as the Temple of Horus with its menacing black stone statue of the falcon god.

Enjoy a leisurely sail to Kom Ombo.

DISCOVERY While sailing enjoy an Egyptian cooking class.

CLASSIC Enjoy beautiful Kom Ombo for a short walk to its bluff-top twin temples. The right side is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek-Ra, while the left side is dedicated to the falcon god Horus.

This evening, enjoy a party night on board.

DAY 7: ASWAN

This morning, consider joining a Guided Optional Excursion of the massive sandstone temples of Abu Simbel (by coach).

CLASSIC Board a motorboat and cross the blue waters of the Nile. En route, see the ancient water measurement system, “Nilometer,” on the Nile’s Elephantine Island and the splendid Aga Khan Mausoleum.

DAY 8: ASWAN (DISEMBARKATION)–CAIRO

Work in Progress and the Goddess Isis

CLASSIC Join a Guided Sightseeing Excursion at to explore the Granite Quarries that supplied ancient Egypt with its hard stones for the pyramids in Giza. See the famous unfinished obelisk, still remaining in the quarry. Board a motor launch to the island of Agilika between the two dams and visit the Temple of Isis, which was dismantled from the submerged island of Philae and reassembled here. Take a photo stop at the gigantic Aswan High Dam, completed in 1970.

Board your flight back to Cairo later today.

DAY 9: CAIRO

Amazing Civilization and Marketplace Mazes

CLASSIC Start the day with a guided tour of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. No visit would be complete without time to experience the Royal Mummies’ Hall, considered the crown jewel of the museum.

CLASSIC Drive to “Coptic Cairo” to Abu Serga Church, not only the oldest church in Egypt but built on the spot where the Holy Family stopped and rested towards the end of their journey to Egypt. Proceed to visit the hanging church, which dates back to the fourth century, built on the remains of an old Roman Babylon fortress. Walk to see Cairo’s oldest Jewish synagogue, founded in the 9th century.

CLASSIC Take in a full panoramic view of Cairo from the Nile River—on board a traditional wooden sailing vessel (Felucca) and enjoy a typical Egyptian light lunch.

CLASSIC Browse the maze of shops in the vast labyrinths of the Khan al Khali Souk bazaar and Medieval alleyways.

This evening, consider attending an Optional Dinner Cruise on the Nile to celebrate your Egyptian adventure.

Is this Cruise ship a Takeover?
Yes, this is a complete ship takeover, we have the entire ship during the week

What hotel is the host hotel for the cruise?
two-night stay at the Host Hotel Marriott Mena House in Giza is included before embarking. After the cruise, 2 nights stay is included at the Waldorf Astoria in the heart of Heliopolis, Cairo.

Which airport should I arrive at?
Cairo Egypt – Airport Code – CAI

Will there be Transportation to the Ship?
Transportation will be provided to the ship ONLY from the host hotel. The cost is TBD and is NOT included in the hotel rate

It is a Couple’s only cruise?
It is a Couples only cruise however we have a limited number of cabins where a single female can share the room with a couple.

What is accepted as valid proof of identity/citizenship for a United States citizen?
All guests traveling on any voyages are required to carry a passport. We recommend that the passport be valid for six months after the end of the voyage. Non-U.S. citizens who permanently reside in the United States are required to carry their Permanent Resident Card (informally known as a Green Card). The name on your cruise line or airline reservation must match the name on your passport and Permanent Resident Card.
Guests who do not possess the proper documentation may be prevented from boarding their flight or ship or from entering a country and may be subject to fines.
For additional passport requirements and information on obtaining or renewing a passport, U.S. travelers should visit the State Department’s website: www.travel.state.gov/passport. Guests from outside the United States should contact their country’s passport issuing agency.

Will Public Sex be allowed?
Please nite that this is NOT a Clothing-Optional Cruise. Sex will be inappropriate in any public area

What is the age group that will be on board?
The average age is from mid 30’s to early 60’s.

We understand this is a couples cruise. Do we have to be married?
No. You must be 21 years of age and traveling as a couple. In addition, you must sign our Rules and Conduct policy.

Are there any other rules we should know of?
The golden rule will always be applied during the entire time of the cruise, NO means NO. Please note this is not a clothing-Optional Cruise. Sex will be inappropriate in any public area.

What ship are we sailing on for the full ship charter?
The ship is MS Farah, by Avalon Waterways

Does the Cruise line know what kind of charter this is?
Absolutely. They know about our events and a worldwide reputation for organizing/hosting great events for the past years.

When do we need to book?
In order to get the cabin of your preference the sooner, you book the better your chances of securing your choice of cabin category.

What is included in the cost?
The price of your cruise includes:
-Ship accommodations and ocean transportation
-Meals
-Beverages
-Most entertainment aboard the vessel.
-Shore excursions
The cruise price does not include air transportation, transfers or items of a personal nature, photographs, medical services, etc.

How much are taxes & Tips?
The port charges, taxes, gratuities, documents, administration, and security fees are $450 USD per person for Deluxe Staterooms and $480 USD per person for Royal Suites. Everyone is charged gratuities in advance, so they will be pre-paid the minute you arrive on board. You may add additional amounts for any of the ship’s staff that gave you exceptional service and/or made your stay on the ship a memorable one. There is an envelope that will be left in your cabin on the last night of the cruise for gratuities. Since you already pre-paid them before you sailed, you do not need to do anything with this envelope, unless you decide that you want to tip extra.
The pre-paid gratuities cover your waitstaff in the main dining area and your cabin steward. You still have to pay gratuities for alcoholic drinks, spa services, and other amenities. Note: tips are usually automatically added to your bill, so make sure you check that you are not over or under-tipping.

What if I have to cancel?
We have a standard cancellation policy.

Is airfare included?
No. You will need to make arrangements to arrive in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Please contact us if you need any help. If you are arriving early and staying in a hotel, many of these hotels offer transportation to the cruise terminal. You will be responsible for your transportation from the airport to the cruise terminal.

Do I have a choice of cabins?
Yes. All cabins are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be happy to help you and make suggestions as to the location that is best for you.

When will we get our cruise documents?
You will receive an invoice immediately after making your booking. Final boarding documents will be provided online.

Do I need to bring money with me on the cruise?
When you board the ship, you will be presented with a “Pass Card”. You will use this card for all shipboard charges. At the end of the cruise, you can settle your account by either paying cash or using a credit card. The ship does not accept cash.

Are cabins available for the handicapped?
Yes. If you have a qualified disability, please contact us for cabin placement.

Are shore excursions available?
Yes, and most are included in the price! You can prebook them or wait until you get on the ship. We will be releasing information ahead of time about special excursions and events.

Can we bring a 3rd person?
A limited number of single ladies will be allowed to accompany a couple in their cabin. Please contact us to make an inquiry.

Will my cell phone/internet work onboard the ship?
Most of the big networks will have service on board. Check with your carrier for costs, as packages and prices can be steep on board.

Are passports required?
Yes. Make sure you apply ahead of time and allow plenty of time to receive your passport if you do not currently have one. If you already have a passport, make sure you check the expiration date so you do not run into any trouble while abroad.

TOURIST VISA REQUIRED: Yes
VACCINATIONS: None. Travelers should be up-to-date on all recommended vaccinations, per CDC’s information.
U.S. citizens must have a visa to enter Egypt.
U.S. citizens can obtain a renewable single-entry 30-day tourist visa on arrival at Egyptian airports for a 25 USD fee. A multiple entry visa is also obtainable for 60 USD.
The Government of Egypt has created a website for the issuance of “e-visas.” There are other websites purporting to offer electronic visas, some of which reportedly charge double the official price, but this is the only official Government of Egypt portal for this service. U.S. citizens and the citizens of 44 other countries are eligible to apply through this means in advance of their travel.
